Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of Candlelight, operated by Scrying Table ("we," "us," "our"). By creating an account or using the service, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, don't use Candlelight.

You must be at least 13 years old to use Candlelight. By creating an account, you represent that you meet this requirement.

You're responsible for keeping your login credentials secure. Don't share your account with others or create accounts on behalf of people who haven't agreed to these Terms. If you suspect your account has been compromised, contact us immediately.

You may only maintain one account. Duplicate accounts may be removed.

You agree not to:

• Use Candlelight for anything illegal or harmful
• Upload content that infringes intellectual property rights
• Share content that is threatening, harassing, or abusive toward other users
• Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or interfere with the service or its infrastructure
• Circumvent any security measures or access controls
• Impersonate any person or entity, or misrepresent your affiliation with one

We reserve the right to remove content or suspend accounts that violate these rules. We'll give notice where practical, but we may act immediately for serious violations.

Anything you create in Candlelight — campaigns, characters, notes, maps — belongs to you. You retain all intellectual property rights to your content.

By uploading content, you grant Scrying Table a limited, non-exclusive license to store, display, and transmit that content as necessary to provide the service to you and your collaborators (for example, sharing a map with players in your campaign). We don't use your content for advertising or sell it to third parties. For details on how we handle your data, see our Privacy Policy.

You're responsible for the content you upload. Don't upload content you don't have the right to share.

Some features of Candlelight require a paid subscription. Subscription fees are charged in advance on a recurring basis (monthly or annually, depending on your plan) through Stripe.

Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled. You can cancel at any time from Settings → Subscription. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period — you'll retain access until then.

We don't offer automatic refunds for partial billing periods, but if something went wrong, reach out to legal@candle-light.games and we'll work with you.

We reserve the right to change subscription pricing. We'll give you at least 30 days' notice of any price increases, and the new price won't apply until your next renewal.

We aim to keep Candlelight available and working well, but we can't guarantee uninterrupted access. Maintenance, bugs, and things outside our control happen.

To the extent permitted by applicable law, Candlelight is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We're not liable for data loss, downtime, or other issues arising from use of the service — though we'll make reasonable efforts to prevent and recover from them.

Our total liability to you for any claims arising from your use of Candlelight is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose.

You can delete your account at any time from Settings → Account. On deletion, your personal data is removed in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms. For serious violations (illegal activity, harassment, security abuse), we may act without notice. For less serious issues, we'll generally try to reach out first.

These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes will be resolved in the applicable federal or state courts of the United States.

We may update these Terms as the service evolves. We'll notify you of material changes by email or by a prominent in-app notice. Continued use of Candlelight after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
